Espoo, Finland, 14 November 2007:
Imbera Electronics Ltd, the innovator of the patented integrated module
board (IMB) technology, today announced the appointment of Jeff Baloun as
chief executive officer. Baloun will take up the post effective January
2008. The IMB technology enables the manufacturers of electronic devices
such as cell phones or MP3 players to achieve higher integration resulting
in more robust, feature-rich products in more attractive form factors.
“We have been looking for the right person to join Imbera and to help its
world class technology become a standard in the industry. Jeff brings the
right combination of unparalleled experience and vision to this role and
we’re delighted he’s joining us” stated Björn Stray, chairman of the board
of directors.
“I look forward to working with Jeff and we feel that his experience in
building companies and his extensive contacts in the industry will help us
to continue to achieve commercial success and proliferate our technology in
cell phones and other handheld devices” added Risto Tuominen, founder of
Imbera.
Baloun, who has worked throughout the United States, Asia and Europe, is
highly regarded in the semiconductor packaging industry and he brings over
twenty two years of experience to the post. Most recently, Baloun was
managing director, European operations at Unisem Corporation, where he led
a team of commercial & technical staff across three continents and oversaw
the merger and transition of ATL and Unisem Corporation. Previously Baloun
was the CEO of Atlantic Technology-United Kingdom, which he successfully
led from a management buy-out through to the sale to Unisem Corporation,
Malaysia.
Imbera, founded in 2002, has successfully completed technology prototyping
in small volumes and is building up its technology supplier base for high
volume manufacturing through technology licensing. The usage of IMB
technology in high volume advanced electronics applications is expected to
ramp up during 2008. Imbera announced funding in April of this year from
three of Europe’s leading venture capital funds, Index Ventures, Northzone
Ventures and Conor Venture Partners.
Baloun stated “Imbera’s unique IMB technology arrives at a time when
imbedded substrates will become essential to tomorrow’s system designs.
I’m very excited to be working with Risto and the visionary Imbera team as
IMB converges with the market demands for thinner, smaller, higher
performance and more cost effective products.”
